Teen injured in Nayapaltan explosion from crude bomb

In a harrowing incident this afternoon, a 16-year-old boy named Sanny, who earns his living as a rag picker, suffered severe injuries after an abandoned crude bomb detonated in the Nayapaltan area of the city.

Sanny sustained critical injuries to both his hands and legs when the explosive device unexpectedly went off. Recounting the terrifying ordeal, the young victim disclosed that he stumbled upon a shopping bag while scouring for recyclables near an automobile shop in Nayapaltan.

The situation took a perilous turn when he decided to inspect the bag, triggering an explosion that left him gravely wounded.

Upon receiving distressing reports of the incident, law enforcement promptly rushed to the scene. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ali of Paltan Police Station revealed that they swiftly transported the injured boy to Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh. Later, due to the severity of his condition, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further medical attention.

"The boy sustained injuries from splinters on his legs, hands, and other parts of his body," stated Mohammad Ali. Sanny resides in Kakrain area of the city with his father, Titu Miah, adding a layer of concern to the incident.

Sentu Mia, the inspector in charge of the investigation at Paltan Police Station, affirmed that they have initiated a thorough inquiry into the matter to ascertain the circumstances leading to the explosion.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in abandoned items, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance and swift action to ensure public safety in urban areas.
