A four-month-old baby has been killed in the capital’s Mirpur area while his six-year-old brother said "a ghost did it."
The incident happened near the Muslim Bazar water tank in Mirpur-12 on Tuesday evening.
Md Parvez Islam, Pallabi Police Station OC, confirmed the matter.
The victim is Md Yasin.
As per the mother of the kids, she went out to buy medicine in the evening, leaving the infant in the care of his older brother.
When she returned home, she found the baby bloodied. She rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead, said the mother.
Contacted, OC Parvez said: "When we asked the elder brother of the infant about the matter, he said a ghost came in soon after his mother left and asked him to slash the baby with a blade. Later, the ghost beat the baby up severely and left."
"Upon request, the boy handed over a bloodied blade to the police. The matter is very sensitive. Without proper investigation, nothing can be determined," he added.
The OC said the six-year-old boy is in his parents custody now.
