Dhaka South City Corporation has completed all preparations to organize the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah Maidan considering the adverse weather conditions.
Dhaka South Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas said after inspecting the overall preparation of the main congregation of the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr at the National Eidgah Maidan at 11 am on Tuesday.
During the discussion with the journalists, the mayor said, "Even after the heavy rains last year, there was no problem here. Not even a single drop of water could enter and everyone was able to participate in the congregation beautifully. However, there is no chance of rain this time, said the Meteorological Department. Still, keeping in mind the adverse weather conditions, we have already completed all our arrangements.”
He also said, "As a part of the overall preparation, an alternative system has been put in place from the Ministry of Religion through the Islamic Foundation." If this is not possible then the next congregation will be held at Baitul Mukarram (National Mosque) (at 9 am). I think, through the arrangements that we have, everyone will be able to participate in the Jamaat here comfortably.`
He informed that the main Eid congregation will be completed at 8:30 in the morning and urged the people of Dhaka to perform the Eid congregation at the national Eidgah Maidan with their families. At this time, he wished the people of Dhaka and the countrymen in advance of Eid. He also told the media that around 35 thousand worshipers will be able to offer prayers inside the pandal at the National Eidgah.
