Driver killed in Dhaka, auto-rickshaw missing

The police recovered the throat-slit body of a driver of an auto-rickshaw from a road in front of Kurmitola Bihari camp under Pallabi police station in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on early Friday.

The deceased is Abdul Latif Hawlader, 60, of a slum in Mirpur-12 area in the city, said Pallabi police station officer-in-charge Parvez Islam.

‘We assume that the auto-rickshaw driver was killed by slitting his throat anytime between 3:00am and 5:00am. His auto-rickshaw is missing,’ he said.

‘We have been investigating into the matter. The assailants might have killed him to snatch his auto-rickshaw. But, we are yet to be sure about it,’ he said.

He said that they sent the body to Shaheed Suhrwardy Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination and trying to arrest the killers.
