A 19-year-old girl was found dead at her home in the capital’s Mirpur area on Saturday morning.
The girl was identified as Sanjida Islam Mim, a second-year student of Mirpur (English Version) School and College. She was the daughter of Sakhawat Mridha.
According to her family, Mim was found unresponsive inside her room, which was locked from the inside. Her brother, Sakhawat Hossain, said the family broke open the door after she did not respond for a long time.
She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 11:00 am, where doctors at the emergency department declared her dead on arrival.
Police said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed the matter.
Further details will be known after the post-mortem report.
