Abdur Rauf Chowdhury was a truthful and courageous man: Khalid Mahmud

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that late Abdur Rauf Chowdhury was a truthful and courageous person. He was an idealistic man. He never compromised on his ideals. Bangladesh became independent on the basis of that ideology. It is on the basis of that ideal that Bangladesh has been identified as a nation to the world. We are walking along the path of truth and beauty that he has shown us.

Khaled Mahmud said these in his chief guest speech at the 16th death anniversary commemoration meeting of late public leader Abdur Rauf Chowdhury, one of the organizers of the great liberation war, language soldier, founder of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Dinajpur, former president of district Awami League and former state minister, at Abdur Rauf Chowdhury auditorium in Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur district.

Bochaganj Upazila Awami League organized this memorial meeting.

The state minister said, "No matter how big the money is, Bangladesh Awami League should be based on ideals. Bangladesh which Ziaur Rahman turned into a complex country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking forward this country on the path of truth and beauty.

Bochaganj Upazila Awami League president Bir Muktijoddha Abu Syed Hossain presided over the commemoration meeting, among others district Awami League vice president Bajlul Haque, Abul Kalam Azad, Kamrul Huda Helal, district Awami League joint general secretary Farukuzzaman Chowdhury Michael, Awami League organizational secretary Raihan Kabir Sohag, Chairman of Upazila Parishad and Publicity and Publication Secretary of District Awami League AKM Mustafizur Rahman Babu, Mayor of Setabganj Municipality Mohammad Aslam, General Editor of Bochaganj Upazila Awami League Afsar Ali were present.

The state minister for shipping earlier paid floral tributes at the grave of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.
