Obaidul Quader, General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, said that no restrictions will stop the upcoming parliamentary elections. He said these things in a joint meeting held at the central office of Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital today afternoon. The president-general secretaries of Dhaka Metropolitan North-South Awami League and allied organizations joined the joint meeting along with the editorial board of Awami League.
Awami League General Secretary said, "There is no reason for us to worry about the visa policy as we are determined to have free, impartial and fair elections."
Obaidul Quader said, “Foreigners are our friends, not our masters. BNP will be defeated if Awami League is united. But under no circumstances their (BNP) leaders can be attacked. But if they do, it is no longer a concession."
Criticizing BNP, Awami League General Secretary said, "They are engaged in corrupt politics and they are practicing politics of bad power." If they win democracy will be destroyed. It will imply that there will be more corruption, and more votes will be stolen."
Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Dipu Moni, organizing secretary Mirza Azam and SM Kamal Hossain, science and technology secretary engineer Abdus Sabur were there among others in the joint meeting.
