A fresh clash broke out on Monday (September 29) in the char area of Alokbali in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila over territorial disputes between two groups. During the incident, 42-year-old Sadeq Hossain was shot dead, and at least ten others were injured.
Sadeq Hossain, a resident of Muradnagar village in Alokbali Union, was the joint convener of the Union Jubo Dal.
According to local sources, tensions had been escalating in Alokbali for several days due to territorial disputes, leading to repeated clashes between rival factions. On Monday morning, the confrontation escalated again, during which Sadeq Hossain was fatally shot.
Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police, Kalim Ullah, confirmed the incident, stating that a person had been killed and several others injured in a shooting in Alokbali’s char area. He added that the situation is currently under control.
To prevent further incidents, additional police personnel have been deployed in the area.
Earlier this month, two other people, Idan Mia and Ferdousi Begum, were killed in separate clashes in the same union over similar disputes. With Monday’s killing, the death toll from these clashes in Alokbali rises to three.
