Police recovered the bodies of three members of the same family, including an infant, from a relative’s house in the Amirabad area of Madaripur town.
The bodies were recovered around midnight on Sunday (May 17) from the rented residence of Misti Baroi, wife of Italy expatriate Jatin Baroi.
The deceased were identified as Chinmoy Das, 38, of Kolagachia area; his wife Isha Das, 32; and their eight-month-old baby.
According to police sources, Misti Baroi has been living for the past three years in a rented house owned by Santona Rani Chand, wife of the late Birendranath Dutta, in Amirabad. On Sunday afternoon, Chinmoy Das reportedly arrived at the house with his family, introducing himself as Misti Baroi’s cousin.
Later that night, Misti Baroi called the police. Upon arriving at the scene, officers broke open the room door and recovered the bodies of the couple and their child.
Confirming the incident, Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad told the media that Misti Baroi was alone in the adjacent room and was the one who informed police.
Police said they are investigating whether the deaths were the result of murder or suicide. However, Misti Baroi has been placed on the preliminary list of suspects.
The bodies have been sent to the Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for postmortem, the police official said.
