The government has decided to continue the ongoing curfew in Gopalganj district in the wake of widespread clashes and violence.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the curfew that began on July 16 at 8:00 PM and was scheduled to last until July 17 at 6:00 PM will now be extended until Friday, July 18 at 11:00 AM.
However, there will be a temporary break in the curfew on Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, lasting for three hours.
After the break, the curfew will resume at 2:00 PM and remain in effect until further notice, the ministry said.
This means that residents will get a 3-hour reprieve 39 hours after the curfew initially went into force on Wednesday night.
