The incidents occurred in Ashashuni, Kalaroa, Shyamnagar, Satkhira Sadar, and Kaliganj, casting a pall of grief over the areas.

In Ashashuni’s Bamnadanga village of Borda Union, 13-month-old Ishita Saha, daughter of Mahendra Nath Saha, drowned after slipping from her mother’s grasp while she was chasing away a dog. Police confirmed the death occurred within minutes.

In Kalaroa’s Keragachhi village, two-year-old Irfan Khan, son of Ikram Khan, drowned in a roadside ditch. The child went missing while being prepared for a bath; his body was later recovered from a nearby pond.

In Shyamnagar’s Chandipur village, 16-year-old Faisal Hossain, a mentally challenged teenager and son of local motorbike driver Shahinur, was found dead in a pond on Monday afternoon after going missing the previous evening. Police handed over the body to the family after they raised no objections.

Another incident occurred in the Fingri Union of Satkhira Sadar, where the young daughter of Ismail Hossain drowned at the Ellarchar Housing Project.

In Kaliganj’s Indranagar village of Nalta, 19-month-old Lamisa Khatun, daughter of Sirajul Islam, drowned after slipping into a pond near the family home. She was rushed to a local clinic but declared dead. Her burial took place later in the family graveyard.

Local police confirmed the separate incidents and said investigations were underway where necessary.
