Habiganj transport owners to go on indefinite strike

Transport owners and workers in Habiganj called an indefinite strike from Friday protesting the interfere of local administration on bus movement.

Leaders of district road transport owners’ workers union parishad announced their decision following an emergency meeting of the organisation on Thursday.

District motor owners group president Md Faizur Rahman Chowdhury said, Nabiganj upazila administration of the district is not allowing the buses to go to the government bus terminal built in the Salamatpur for a long time. On Wednesday, they fined the buses citing traffic jam issue. However, they don’t any action against illegal three wheelers.

We called the strike as the authority did not allow us to use the terminal and stop those illegal three wheelers, he added.

Nabiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Imran Shahriar said, we will join a discussion with the leaders of owners and workers in this regard.
