State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, "I hate those who are looking to foreign powers, because they cannot have faith and trust in the people of Bangladesh. There can be many conspiracies encircling Durga Puja. Everyone should be careful in this place. Security has been ensured in more than 32,000 puja mandaps across the country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will move further towards building a non-communal Bangladesh amid colorful festivals."
Khalid Mahmud said these things on Friday at the Dhakeshwari temple in Lalbagh in Dhaka on the occasion of Sharadiya Durgautsab during the cloth distribution ceremony among the needy.
The State Minister for Shipping said that Sharadiya Durgautsab has become a universal festival. As the economy of Bangladesh is getting stronger, the festivals are becoming more colorful. In the future, Bangladesh will be developed then our economy will be stronger and festivals will be more colorful. The outward aspects of the festivals have been colored by the spirit of the liberation war and the non-communal spirit of the government in power.
Khalid Mahmud said, "The seeds of communalism were sown in 1975. Conflict was created using religion. The country was plunged into darkness. The country was in darkness for 21 years. For a short time in 1996, the country began to become enlightened. After the elections in 2001, all the festivities got messy again. Militancy was established. Militants like Bangla Bhai, Sheikh Abdur Rahman were emerged. Many tragic murders were committed."
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the beacon of non-communal spirit, was attacked with grenades. A series of bomb attacks were carried out in 500 places across the country. Today we are out of those places. The killers have been prosecuted. Communal harmony has returned in the country. But our struggle does not stop. We want to go back to the spirit of 1972. Many conspiracies are being hatched so that we cannot go back to the spirit of 1972. We suppressed militancy, but could not eliminate them. If we can go back to the spirit of 1972, we can eradicate militancy", he added.
State Minister for Shipping later on distributed clothes among the needy and visited the temple. General Secretary of Mahanagar Puja Udjapan Parishad Romen Mondal, former General Secretary Advocate Kishore Ranjan Mondal among others spoke at the event under the chairmanship of Mahanagar Puja Udjapan Parishad President Monindra Kumar Nath. Swapan Kumar Saha, Manik Lal Saha, Babul Debnath and others were present.
