Freedom fighter and field level politician Md. Sahabuddin is going to take oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on Monday. Speaker of the National Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will administer oath to him (Sahabuddin) as President.
The oath taking ceremony will be held at Bangabhaban's Darbar Hall at around 11 am.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, cabinet members and hundreds of distinguished guests will attend the event. The program will be conducted by Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain. Then the new president Md. Sahabuddin will sign the oath document.
During the career of Md. Shahabuddin he served as District and Sessions Judge and ACC Commissioner. He also served as the Director of the Prime Minister's Office and the coordinator assigned to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in the Bangabandhu assassination case.
Sahabuddin was elected as Secretary General of BCS (Judiciary) Association twice in a row. After retirement from service, he was engaged in legal profession in the High Court.
He later served as the Chairman of the Judicial Inquiry Commission investigating the 2001 post-election violence. As the ACC Commissioner, Md. Sahabuddin showed firmness in dealing with the supposed corruption conspiracy against the Padma Bridge project.
