The newly appointed president, Md. Shahabuddin paid tribute to the brave martyrs at Savar National Memorial at around 11:40 am today. He paid tribute by placing flowers at the altar of the memorial. Earlier, a group of guard regiments gave a national salute and guard of honor to the new president at Bangabhaban at around 11 am. After the ceremony at the Bangabhaban, he went to the National Memorial. After that, he paid tribute to Bangabandhu's portrait at Dhanmondi 32 and, paid tribute to language martyrs by placing flowers at the central Shaheed Minar.

Earlier on Monday, Md. Shahabuddin took oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh. Speaker of National Assembly, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. administered the oath to him at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 11 am.
Outgoing President Md. Abdul Hamid congratulated the new President Md. Shahabuddin by giving flowers. They officially changed their seats as part of the transfer of authority.
