The leaders of Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners Association have called for a 12-hour symbolic strike for three-point demands. The strike will continue from 6 am to 6 pm on Monday, suspending oil extraction from depots in Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
The demands of the leaders of the Petrol Pump Owners Association are-
1. Fuel oil sales commission should be increased at a proportional rate with the current increase in the price of fuel oil.
2. Tank-lorry fare should be increased beyond 40 km from the oil depot.
3. License system of various agencies imposed on petrol pumps should be abolished.
It has been warned that if the demands are not implemented during the program, then this movement will be called across the country.
It should be noted that the price of fuel oil was increased on the night of August 5. According to a press release of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the retail price (1 liter) of diesel and kerosene will be Tk 114, Octane Tk 135 and Petrol Tk 130 within 40 km of the depot after 12 midnight. Until then, kerosene and diesel were sold at Tk 80 per litre, octane at Tk 89 and petrol at Tk 86.
