People have paid their last respects to journalist, columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, best known for writing the lyrics to ‘Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano’ at the Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
Hundreds of people of all walks of life, parliament members, journalists, politicians and civil society members paid their homage to Gaffar Chowdhury with flowers.
Earlier in the morning, the mortal remains of the prominent Bangladeshi-British writer and columnist arrived in Dhaka.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Dhaka University Central Mosque at 3.30pm and then the body will be taken to the National Press Club for the journalists to pay homage at 4:00pm.
He will be buried next to his wife at Martyred Intellectual Graveyard in Dhaka’s Mirpur following his wish.
