Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission set the price of one kg of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for the month of December at Tk 119.40, up from Tk 117.02 last month.
The new price will be effective from 6:00 pm today.
A 12kg LPG cylinder now costs Tk 1,433, including VAT, which is Tk 29 more than the previous price of Tk 1,404, according to BERC Chairman Nurul Amin at a press conference at the BERC office.
LPG has long been sold at prices higher than those set by BERC in several parts of Dhaka.
The price of LPG for vehicles has also risen to Tk 65.76 per litre, up from Tk 64.43.
According to BERC authorities, the LPG price hike was driven by rising costs in Saudi Arabia.
The price of LPG reached an all-time high of Tk 1,498/12kg cylinder, in last year February.
