Early this morning in Tangail, the Rangpur Express train headed for Dhaka derailed, cutting off the capital`s rail connection to the country`s northern regions.
According to Rezaul Karim, the station manager of Bangabandhu Bridge East Railway Station, the incident happened at around 5:00 am in the Bethair Tarabari area near Gharinda Railway Station.
As the train from Rangpur got closer to Tangail Railway Station, the luggage carriage near the locomotive unexpectedly derailed. Rezaul stated that as a result, rail service between Dhaka and North Bengal has been discontinued.
The incident was also confirmed by Sub-Inspector Akbar Ali, in charge of the Gharinda Railway Police in Tangail, who also stated that the issue was reported to the railway officials right away.
