Bangladesh National Parliament Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed is set to travel to Tehran to attend the state funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He will undertake the visit at the invitation of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, and is expected to take part in the funeral proceedings.
A source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that an official invitation was extended by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to Bangladesh’s Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed to attend the funeral. Following the invitation, he will travel to Tehran and participate in the ceremony.
According to Iran’s official schedule, several days of funeral rites and related ceremonies have been arranged to bid farewell to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The first funeral prayer is scheduled to be held on July 4, followed by a second ceremony in Qom on July 7. The final funeral prayer will take place on July 9, after which he will be laid to rest in Mashhad in the southeastern part of the country.
