At least two female workers have been killed in a huge explosion at a firecracker factory in Nandail of Mymensingh.
The semi-concrete structure where the factory was located has collapsed entirely while the blast blew away its corrugated iron-made roof ripped doors and windows.
The deceased were identified as Nasima Khatun (30) wife of Abul Hossain and Apila Khatun (50) wife of Abdul Goni.
Both of them were workers in the factory.
Different parts of the victims’ bodies were scattered in the ruble.
The incident occurred at South Bashhati village in Chondipasha union of the upazila around 6:30 am Wednesday.
On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot.
Mashiur Rahman, a member of Nandail fire service, said they are conducting operations to find survivors if there are any.
Officials said, the explosion occurred due to the storage of ammunition in the factory.
