A complaint has been filed over the looting of petrol from a filling station in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur following an armed attack.
Police said the incident took place on Friday night at Ujjal Filling Station, where a group of men allegedly stormed the premises and threatened staff.
According to the complaint, the attackers assaulted a pump operator and held a sharp weapon to his throat, forcing him to take shelter inside the station.
They then operated the fuel pump themselves and took away around 167 litres of petrol using containers and motorcycles before leaving the scene.
Several individuals have been named in the case along with a number of unidentified suspects.
The station manager claimed the entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras and described the attack as sudden and organised.
Officer-in-Charge Sohel Rana of Pirganj Police Station said police have received the complaint and started an investigation.
He added that legal action will be taken after reviewing the evidence and findings.
