Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of narcotic syrup from a truck entering the country through the Sonamasjid land port in Chapainawabganj.
According to a press release from the 59 BGB Battalion, the recovery was made during a late-night operation on Saturday based on a tip-off.
A patrol team, led by Assistant Director Sheikh Monowarul Islam, searched a stone-laden truck parked at a yard near the port.
During the search, BGB members found 20 sacks hidden among stones. Inside the sacks, they recovered 5,935 bottles of Indian narcotic syrup.
Officials said the driver of the truck was not present at the scene and could not be detained.
The seized items, along with the truck and stones, have been taken into custody, and further legal steps are underway.
