The Election Commission has provisionally approved the nomination papers of 36 candidates from the BNP alliance for reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament.
Returning Officer Md Moin Uddin Khan announced the decision on Thursday after completing scrutiny, with Assistant Returning Officer Md Monir Hossain present.
The nomination of independent candidate Sultana Jasmine has also been declared valid.
However, the candidature of NCP nominee Monira Sharmin remains under review due to incomplete documentation, including proof of resignation from government service. Officials said she has been asked to submit the required papers within the stipulated deadline.
The EC said appeals against the scrutiny decisions can be filed within the designated timeframe, with hearings scheduled shortly after.
Candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations before the final deadline, while election symbols are set to be allocated at the end of the process.
Voting for the reserved women’s seats is scheduled for May 12.
