On September 19 last year, Bangladesh won the SAFF Women's Championship title by defeating hosts Nepal 3-1 in the final. At that time, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a reward of Tk 50 lakh for the women footballers who won the SAFF. To that end, they have been preparing checks for footballers since last October.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan also informed the media about the news. He claimed that despite repeated reminders, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is not making arrangements to take the cheque.
BCB chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said that if BFF does not take cheque, they themselves will arrange to deliver that money soon.
Bangladesh team led by Sabina-Krishna won the women's SAFF Championship title, which is the first trophy of Bangladesh in the women's SAFF championship. The BCB also joined in and announced a reward of Tk 50 lakh for the team. However, the money has not yet reached footballers.
The BCB president told the media in Mirpur on Wednesday that they had been preparing cheques for several months but did not get time from the BFF.
The BCB president said, "The cheque is ready in October, by names... They don't come to take it. It's being said again and again... 8-9 days ago, they were called saying, 'Brother give me a date, come, take something. However, Sujon (BCB chief executive Nizam Uddin) will be able to say better about this''.
Chief Executive Nizam Uddin later told the media that if they do not get time from BFF in front of them, they will deliver the cheques themselves.
Our board president had a commitment to give Tk 50 lakh to the players. That's how I talked to the BFF officials concerned, in fact, the availability of the players and the desire to hand over the cheques to them was not matched, so maybe it was late.
We were ready three-four months in advance and the cheques were ready. That's what we've contacted and we've talked about in recent times. We will hand over the cheques if they give them a convenient time. Or if not, we will contact them and deliver the cheques as soon as possible.
The BCB chief executive said that they will try hard to deliver the cheques to the girls before Eid.
