With just hours left before BNP's mass rally, the Dhaka South City Corporation has said that it has yet to recieve any application by the party for its programme which it mulls to hold in Golapbagh playground on Saturday.
The DSCC, which is authorised for the playground, says it will reveal its decision once BNP approaches it, reads a press reelese issued on Friday evening.
However, the release clarified that the stadium is undergoing a "mega" project meant for its facelift.
"The project is still underway and expected to end soon. The playground will be re-opened very soon after the project is completed. So, in such a situation, it is feared that any political programme may cause havoc to the field," it ends.
Earlier in the day, BNP secured permission from police to the rally at the venue.
"BNP wanted Golapbagh field as their venue and our commissioner gave them permission to hold the rally there," Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, chief of detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said.
Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, the most senior member of the BNP's standing committee, said their party will start the rally at 11am on Saturday on the Golapbagh ground as Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has already given permission to use the venue.
