Faridpur-3 AL candidate ruled out of election race following independent aspirant‍‍`s appeal

The Election Comission (EC) granted businessman AK Azad‍‍`s appeal and revoked the Awami League candidate from Faridpur-3 due to his dual citizenship, said EC sources.

On the sixth and final day of hearing appeals over nominations for the 12th national elections, the commission made the decisions.

Shamim Haque, the AL nominee for Faridpur-3, had his candidacy accepted by the returning officer during the inspection of the nomination papers; however, it was revoked after AK Azad, an independent candidate running in the same seat, filed an appeal.
