BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the government is under foreign pressure ahead of the elections. Therefore, it has not been making any trouble in the BNP’s protest rally for quite some time.
Fakhrul said these while speaking at a protest rally organized by the Bangladesh Combined Professional Council in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday.
"Before the election, the pressure of different countries, different pressures that you don't allow the opposition party to organize meetings. Now they are showing that they are allowing the opposition parties to hold meetings. We had a rally yesterday too, didn't cause too much trouble. Even today there are police around, but they are not causing trouble. Because, they are showing that we are a democratic party, we don't make any trouble. These are frauds. This deception is connected with their character,” the BNP leader said.
Fakhrul alleged that two people were shot dead for no reason in Bhola recently. He also alleged that the government has disappeared more than 600 BNP leaders and activists in the last 15 years.
Referring to EVMs as fraud machines, BNP Secretary General said that Awami League went to the Election Commission and asked for EVMs in all 300 seats. This machine they hold in their spirit. Because they have no way to come power without EVM machine.
Regarding the current situation in the country, Mirza Fakhrul said, "The banks have become empty. A few days ago, the government was dreaming of Singapore, Malaysia. But now the reserves are falling short. The government is asking for loans.”
He further said, "The price of fuel is low in the world, but the price is increasing in the country. How the government is coordinating.”
