Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has made it clear that the public will not accept any move to rehabilitate the Awami League.

His statement came through a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday, where he strongly condemned the idea of allowing the Awami League to return to power.

In the comment section of his post, Dr. Rahman reinforced his stance, stating,

“Awami League’s Chapter was closed on 36 July. There is no room to reopen it.”

His remarks underline the Jamaat-e-Islami’s opposition to the ruling party‍‍`s attempt to revive its political standing.

In his post, the Jamaat leader issued a call for unity, urging people to rise above political affiliations for the greater good of the nation.

“In the current situation, I call upon people from all walks of life to remain calm, vigilant, and united, and to rise above party politics to play a responsible role for the greater interest of the country,” he said.

Dr. Rahman emphasized the need for caution during these times as Bangladesh faces a pivotal moment in its history.

The Jamaat Ameer also referred to the changes that took place on July 36, 2024, when he claimed the people were gifted a "new Bangladesh."

He said, “After a long period of fascist rule, on the 36th of July 2024, by the grace of Almighty Allah, we have been gifted a new Bangladesh. For this, we are immensely grateful to the Almighty.”

However, he warned that those who previously benefited from fascist regimes are still engaged in conspiracies, both inside and outside the country, to destabilize the nation.

Dr. Rahman pointed out that the people of Bangladesh, particularly the oppressed 180 million citizens, are calling for justice.

He highlighted the need to prosecute those responsible for genocide, rehabilitate the families of the 2024 martyrs, and ensure proper medical treatment for students, youths, and freedom fighters who were left injured or disabled.

He further stressed that the country must take steps toward a fair election by addressing and reforming the problems created during the last 15 years of mismanagement.

He concluded by stating that the people’s main focus is to see justice served for the crimes committed against them.

“At this time, the people primarily want to see justice for the genocide. There is no scope to think of anything beyond that,” he stated.

He then called on everyone to play their part in protecting the country’s sovereignty, saying,

“We urge everyone from all walks of life to stay calm, vigilant, and united, to rise above party interests, and to play a responsible role in protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country.”

In closing, the Jamaat Ameer prayed to Almighty Allah for guidance and assistance in overcoming the challenges the country is currently facing.

His message, directed at the masses, stressed the importance of maintaining peace, unity, and national integrity during these turbulent times.
