A new political party, formed by the National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, is all set to be launched this Friday.
The launch event will take place at 3 PM at Manik Mia Avenue in a public gathering where the new political party will be formally introduced.
According to sources within the National Citizens Committee, Nahid Islam, the Information Advisor, is expected to step down from his current position in the next day or two.
This is in order for him to take on the role of the convener for the new political party.
Meanwhile, Akhtar Hossain`s name has been nearly confirmed for the position of General Secretary of the new party.
Akhtar is currently serving as the General Secretary of the National Citizens Committee.
The roles of chief organizer and spokesperson for the new political party are also nearing finalization.
Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah are the leading candidates for these important positions.
On February 19, a meeting of the preparatory committee was held at the National Citizens Committee’s central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, to finalize the plans for the launch event.
In addition to these preparations, the leaders of both the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee are currently conducting public opinion surveys to gauge the response to the new political party.
