Kim Kardashian to testify in Paris Trial over 2016 armed robbery

Kim Kardashian is set to testify in a Paris court regarding the traumatic 2016 armed robbery she endured during Fashion Week, in which over $6 million in jewelry was stolen. The trial begins Monday and will continue until May 23, with ten individuals facing charges related to the robbery, kidnapping, and assault of Kardashian and the building‍‍`s concierge.

Kardashian has previously recounted the ordeal, describing intense fear for her life as masked men tied her up at gunpoint in her Paris apartment. On David Letterman’s Netflix show in 2020, she emotionally recalled fearing sexual assault and pleading for her life, thinking of her children and family.

Originally, 12 people were due in court, but one has died and another is too ill to stand trial. Investigators say five of the remaining ten suspects were at the scene.

Dubbed the "Granddad Robbers" by French media due to their advanced age and history of bank crimes, the group allegedly carried out the high-profile heist with careful planning. Kardashian told investigators she was bound and left in a bathtub while the thieves escaped on bicycles and on foot. She eventually freed herself and alerted her sister, Kourtney.

The robbers stole numerous high-value items, including a ring worth over $6 million. Only one piece — a diamond cross — has been recovered after being dropped during their escape.

Some defendants have partially confessed, including Yunice Abbas, who claimed to be a lookout and admitted shared responsibility. Another suspect, Aomar Aït Khedache — “Old Omar” — had his DNA on the tape used to bind Kardashian and allegedly left the scene by bicycle before meeting his son at a nearby station.

Didier Dubreucq, known as “Blue Eyes,” is another alleged intruder. He denies involvement, although investigators cite surveillance footage and communications linking him to the crime. Other defendants are accused of helping to sell the stolen jewelry in Belgium or informing the robbers about Kardashian’s whereabouts.

Kardashian’s lawyers confirmed she will appear in person but declined further comment, citing her respect for the French judicial process.
