Argentina, the FIFA Football World Cup champion, has agreed to visit Bangladesh for a friendly match in June, according to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) vice-president Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik.
BFF President Kazi Salahuddin will brief in this regard on Wednesday afternoon.
“Argentina has a number of conditions that must be met, and we are nearing the end of the final negotiations,” Manik told the journalists on Tuesday.
The opposition team has yet to be confirmed, and BFF is still in talks with Morocco and Japan. FIFA’s executive member Mahfuza Akter Kiron, also the women’s wing chairman of BFF, informed the media.
If Lionel Messi’s Argentina comes in June, it will be Albiceleste’s second visit to Bangladesh, after beating Nigeria 3-1 in a friendly at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in September 2011.
