Bangladesh have been ruled out of Women’s Asia Cup after their last match of the initial phase against the UAE was washed out due to persistent Tuesday`s rain in Sylhet.
To qualify for the semi-finals, Bangladesh had only one way— to beat UAE. But the rain washed away the last hope of Nigar Sultana and her team.
The match officials abandoned the match at 11:10 am (Bangladesh time). And with this, Bangladesh’s campaign to keep the title at home ended.
Before the match against UAE, Bangladesh endured a shocking defeat to Sri Lanka. The hosts failed to chase a target of 41 in seven overs.
As Bangladesh are now out of the race, Thailand became the fourth team to go to semi-finals.
Before Thailand, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka booked their places in the semi-finals.
