Bangladesh warmed up for their World Cup campaign with an impressive win in their match against Asian rivals Sri Lanka in Guwahati, India.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a challenging total of 263 all out in 49.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera provided a strong start with a partnership of over 100 runs in 14.4 overs for the first wicket.
However, the Bangladeshi bowlers remained patient, awaiting the right opportunity to dismantle Sri Lanka`s batting lineup.
Pathum Nissanka contributed 68 runs, while Dhananjaya de Silva also notched a fifty.
Mahedi Hasan stood out for Bangladesh, taking three wickets for 36 runs in 9 overs.
In response, Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim forged a formidable opening stand of 130 runs, providing Bangladesh with the necessary foundation to chase the target of 264. Litton`s half-century and Tanzid`s 84 were welcomed by Bangladeshi fans.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz also reached a fifty, while Mushfiqur Rahim finished unbeaten at 35.
Bangladesh achieved the target in 42 overs.
Next, the Tigers will face England on October 2 in their final warm-up match at the same venue.
Bangladesh`s World Cup journey commences with a match against Afghanistan in Dharamshala on October 7.
