Bangladesh national cricket team completed a historic 2-0 Test series sweep over Pakistan national cricket team after securing a 78-run victory on the final day of the second Test in Sylhet.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam led the charge with a brilliant six-wicket haul as Pakistan were bowled out for 358 while chasing a huge target of 437.
Pakistan resumed the fifth morning at 316-7 with hopes resting on wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who fought hard for 94 runs.
However, Taijul broke the resistance by removing Sajid Khan before Shoriful Islam dismissed Rizwan with a crucial breakthrough.
Taijul later wrapped up the innings to finish with figures of 6-120 and complete his 18th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.
Bangladesh earlier posted 278 in the first innings thanks to a superb 126 from Litton Das after a top-order collapse.
The hosts then restricted Pakistan to 232 to take a first-innings lead.
In the second innings, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim scored a brilliant 137 to help Bangladesh reach 390 and set Pakistan a massive target.
Litton was named player of the match for his scores of 126 and 69, while Mushfiqur won the player of the series award after scoring 253 runs in the series.
The victory marked Bangladesh’s fourth straight Test win over Pakistan and strengthened the side’s position in the World Test Championship standings.
