Bangladesh Under-19 defeated the UAE by 195 runs in the Dubai International Stadium final to win their first-ever ACC Under-19 Asia Cup.
Before Bangladesh could reach 282-8 in 50 overs thanks to a brilliant century from Ashiqur Rahman Shibli. The bowlers performed a fantastic job of restricting the hosts to 87 runs in 24.5 overs.
Bangladesh once reached the highest level of cricket for under-19 teams when the young Tigers won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2020 in South Africa. Captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby and his team also won the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, something that not even the 2020 World Champions batch could accomplish.
After being called to bat, the youthful Tigers set a lofty goal with Ashiqur hitting 129 off 149 and Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan and Ariful Islam hitting half-centuries in the one-sided final.
With 378 runs in five innings, Ashiqur finished as the tournament`s top run scorer. This was his second century in the competition.
With statistics of 2-41, pacer Ayan Ahamed was the most effective bowler for the UAE.
