Bangladesh Women’s Futsal Team won the first-ever SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship on Sunday in Bangkok after a dominant 14–2 victory over Maldives in the final match.

This was SAFF’s first women’s futsal tournament, and Bangladesh controlled the competition from start to finish.

They topped the seven-team standings with 16 points from six matches and remained unbeaten throughout the event.

In the final, Bangladesh played attacking futsal from the opening whistle.

They pressed high, moved the ball quickly, and kept Maldives under constant pressure.

The Maldivian defence struggled to cope as Bangladesh took full advantage of their mistakes.

Captain Sabina Khatun starred in the final, scoring four goals. She finished the tournament with 13 goals, leading the team with confidence and consistency.

Bangladesh’s overall performance was impressive. They scored 38 goals in the tournament and conceded only nine. Goalkeeper Swapna Akhter Jhili played a key role at the back, staying calm and organised whenever the team faced pressure.

During the tournament, Bangladesh beat India, drew with Bhutan, and defeated Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal and Maldives.

Each match showed their strength and teamwork.

While Bangladesh’s men’s futsal team failed to make an impact, the women’s team delivered a historic achievement.

They played with control, stayed unbeaten, and became the first champions of SAFF Women’s Futsal, setting a high standard for future tournaments.
