The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is finally getting British-Bangali football sensation Hamza Choudhury to wear the red and green jersey after years of waiting and negotiating.
The national team committee chairman, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, informed the English daily Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday regarding the most recent development.
"Hamza and I have been in communication. He is interested. He is almost ready to play for Bangladesh," Nabil stated.
Hamza was born in the UK and is of Bangladeshi and Grenadian descent.
Following his expression of enthusiasm in playing for Bangladesh, the BFF officials began enlisting him as Bangladeshi player.
However, because he was awaiting other options, the 26-year-old midfielder for Leicester City, who is presently on loan at Watford, was unable to make a definitive decision.
The vice president of BFF, Nabil, did not dismiss the possibility of confirming Hamza’s services by next month..
"We can ensure it within next few days," Nabil stated.
The red-and-green players will depart for Saudi Arabia to participate in a fitness camp prior to their next World Cup qualifying matches against Palestine on March 22 away and on March 26 at home.
