Hamza Choudhury arrives in home, seeks support ahead of Hong Kong match

Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury arrived in Dhaka on Monday to join the Bangladesh national football team ahead of their AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Hong Kong, China, scheduled for October 9.

Upon landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11 a.m., Hamza waved to journalists waiting at the terminal. Later, in a brief video message, he urged fans to rally behind the team.

“Assalamu Alaikum. Insha’Allah, we will be successful. On the 9th, we’ll play against Hong Kong, and Insha’Allah, everyone will support us,” Hamza said in his message.

The England-born midfielder left London late Sunday night (Bangladesh time) and is set to join the national team’s training session on Monday afternoon.

Head coach Javier Cabrera had earlier confirmed that Hamza would arrive Monday morning and take part in three training sessions with the squad ahead of the qualifier.

Bangladesh will play Hong Kong, China on October 9, with just three practice sessions remaining for the team before the crucial encounter.
