IPL match postponed as two players test covid-19 positive

The Indian Premier League, the money-spinning T-20 tournament, postponed a match Monday after two Kolkata Knight Riders players tested positive for coronavirus, organisers said, according to AFP.

Kolkata's match against Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore was called off just hours before it was due to start in Ahmedabad, the first match to be postponed because of the coronavirus surge in India.

According to some other news media, KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy was taken out of bio-bubble to a hospital for an abdominal issue. Later, when his fellow player Sandeep Warrier was tested positive (the contract-tracing could lead to Chakravarty), and the entire KKR camp went into immediate quarantine in their Ahmedabad hotel.

Bangladesh’s super-star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, who is part of the KKR setup, is also under the quarantine according to sources.
