Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President and former youth and sports minister Nazmul Hasan Papon has never appeared at the national cricketing body since August 5, the day Sheikh Hasina resigned as the prime minister and fled to India. In fact, he was not seen publicly since then.
It is also not clear if the BCB chief is in the country.
However, Cricinfo recently reported that Papon has also left the country like Hasina and many other leaders of his party, the Awami League.
Speculations are rife that he, like many Awami League leaders, have resigned -- a claim thereport.live could not verify immediately.
Meanwhile, one of the most renowned local cricket coaches in Bangladesh, Nazmul Abedeen Fahim told a newspaper that he hopes of joining the cricket board now that the previous regime is gone.
A very close person of the ousted prime minister, Papon became the sports minister in January this year after he was elected a member of parliament from Kishoreganj. He has been serving as the BCB chief since 2012.
His home in Bhairab was attached on August 5.
