More than 280 people were detained in Paris after celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain‍‍`s Champions League final victory descended into violence across parts of the French capital, authorities said on Saturday.

French officials reported that hundreds of thousands of fans gathered to celebrate PSG‍‍`s triumph, but the festivities were marred by clashes with police, vandalism and disruptions to transport services.

According to the Interior Ministry, 416 people were detained nationwide, including 283 in Paris. Authorities did not immediately say how many of those detained would face further legal action.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said seven police officers were injured during the unrest, describing the incidents as "absolutely unacceptable."
Police said six vehicles and two businesses were damaged during the disturbances.

Large crowds gathered along the famous Champs-Élysées, where authorities had already taken precautionary measures, including closing transport routes and deploying thousands of officers to prevent a repeat of last year‍‍`s disorder following PSG‍‍`s European success.

Some supporters briefly blocked the Paris ring road, while others set off flares and fireworks.

Near PSG‍‍`s home ground, the Parc des Princes, police reported attempts by groups to force entry into the stadium and incidents involving projectiles thrown at officers.

An AFP reporter witnessed clashes near the venue, where police used tear gas after fireworks were directed at security personnel.

Businesses around key gathering points had boarded up storefronts ahead of the match amid concerns over possible violence.

Authorities said a bakery and a restaurant near the stadium were damaged during the unrest.

The disturbances sparked political reactions, including criticism from Marine Le Pen, who condemned the violence on social media.

Despite the incidents, French authorities said extensive security measures helped contain the disorder. Around 22,000 police officers were deployed nationwide for the event, including 8,000 in Paris.

PSG players are expected to continue celebrations on Sunday with a parade near the Eiffel Tower before being welcomed by President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.
