After four seasons with Spanish club FC Barcelona, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has announced that he will leave the club this summer. In an emotional Instagram post yesterday, the 37-year-old forward wrote, “After four years full of challenges and hard work, it`s time to move on.”
Since joining Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022, Lewandowski has scored 119 goals in 191 appearances across all competitions. During his time at the club, he helped Barcelona win three La Liga titles and the Copa del Rey in 2025.
In his debut season under coach Xavi Hernández, he won the league’s top scorer award. This season, Lewandowski has scored 18 goals in 44 matches. In his farewell message, he wrote, “I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. 4 seasons, 3 championships.”
He also said that Catalonia had become one of the most special places in the world to him and that he would never forget the love and support of the fans.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed that Sunday’s match against Real Betis at Camp Nou would be Lewandowski’s final game for the club, adding that the striker would start in the lineup. Flick described him as “an extraordinary person and a world-class footballer.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona wrote on social media: “He arrived like a star. He leaves like a legend.”
