The intense rivalry between India and Pakistan has always been a hot topic in the cricket world.

However, due to political tensions between the two countries, their face-offs have become rare.

With both teams only meeting in ICC tournaments, the excitement around these matches is amplified by the passionate banter between fans, high ticket demand, and advertisements that hype up the rivalry.

Yet, despite all the noise, does the actual on-field action live up to the hype?

In recent encounters, India has dominated Pakistan, with most matches being one-sided.

Even in the ongoing Champions Trophy, India had the upper hand, leaving many analysts to believe that the once fierce rivalry between the two teams has now become a one-sided affair.

However, former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq disagrees with this sentiment.

Mushtaq, who was part of a recent panel discussion on 24 News HD with cricket legend Inzamam-ul-Haq, boldly challenged India to prove their dominance.

He stated, “If we put politics aside, India’s players are very good, and they are playing excellent cricket.”

But Mushtaq wasn’t done there. He took things a step further and challenged India to a full bilateral series, saying, “If they (India) are truly such a great team, then they should play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20s against Pakistan. Then we’ll see which team is truly the best.”

Mushtaq’s comments come at a time when Pakistan cricket has been undergoing significant changes.

From leadership changes to shifting selection committees, the team has had a turbulent period.

Despite these changes, Pakistan’s performance has yet to see significant improvement.

While acknowledging the difficulties facing Pakistan, Mushtaq remains hopeful.

He pointed out that if Pakistan can get its act together and prepare properly, the team could send a powerful message not only to India but also to the rest of the world.

“If we can prepare properly and get everything in order, then we will be in a position to send a final message to India and the world,” Mushtaq said.

The challenge is now laid down. Will India accept, and will this rivalry see the intense competition it once had? Time will tell.
