The order was issued on Monday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The 14 others facing travel restrictions include Abul Khair, Deputy Registrar of the Department of Cooperatives; his wife Kazi Sadia Hasan; Abul Kalam Matbor, his wife Kanika Afroze, their son Mohammad Bashar, and Sajed Madbor; Aleya Begum; Kazi Fuad Hasan; Kazi Farid Hasan; Shirin Akhter; Javed A Matin; Zahed Kamal; Humayun Kabir; and Tanvir Nizam.
According to the ACC, the individuals, including officials from the Department of Cooperatives, are under investigation for alleged misappropriation of public funds and investment of hundreds of crores of taka in the stock market in violation of government regulations and securities laws.
The ACC requested the court to impose the travel ban to prevent the accused from fleeing the country while the investigation is ongoing.
Following a hearing, the court granted the ACC’s petition and ordered the immediate enforcement of the travel restrictions.
Earlier this year, on January 19, a Dhaka court had also issued an arrest warrant against Shakib Al Hasan in a separate cheque fraud case.
It is reported that Shakib Al Hasan is currently residing in the United States.
