Tabith Awal has been elected the new president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) in a landslide victory, securing 123 votes in the BFF elections held today at the InterContinental Dhaka hotel ballroom.

A seasoned businessman and former two-time BFF vice president, Tabith triumphed over grassroots sports organizer AFM Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, who received five votes. BFF‍‍`s Chief Election Commissioner Mezbah Uddin Ahmed confirmed that 128 of the 133 eligible voters cast their ballots in the election, which began at 2 pm and continued uninterrupted until 6 pm following the morning’s elective congress.

This election marks the end of Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin‍‍`s 16-year tenure as BFF president. The former football legend first assumed the role in 2008 and announced on September 14 that he would not seek a fifth term.

A total of 45 candidates are vying for the 21 seats on the BFF executive committee, including two candidates for president, six candidates for four vice-presidential positions, and 37 candidates for 15 executive member posts. Additionally, current BFF Vice President Imrul Hasan was elected unopposed to the post of senior vice president.
