Anisur Rahman Zico of Bangladesh has been awarded the Saff Championship 2023`s top goalkeeper. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu of India won the penalty shootout in both the semifinal and championship matches, but Zico`s outstanding play throughout the entire competition stood out.
Particularly in the semi-final of Bangladesh`s 1-0 loss to Kuwait, where he repeatedly stopped the opposing attackers, his performance received significant praise.
Due to his Monday return to Bangladesh, Zico was not there when the award was presented at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
A highlight of Bangladesh`s performance in the competition was their return, after a 14-year absence, to the semi-finals, courtesy to two comeback victories.
