Three-day long Smartphone and Tab Expo kicks off

A flicker of excitement has come with the event of Smartphone and Tab Expo-2022 which started at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital Thursday.

For the first time, there is a 5G experience zone, set up by the mobile operator Teletalk and supported by Huawei, at the expo.

Also, smartphones of different brands, including Samsung, Oppo, realme, Xiaomi, Tecno, Vivo, Walton, and One Plus, are available here. There are several stalls and pavilions for smartphone accessories, too.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the expo as the chief guest.

The three-day fair will remain open every day from 10am to 8pm till Saturday.

The minister thanked the organisers for allowing everyone to experience 5G for the first time at this event.

"We launched 5G in Bangladesh on December 12 last year, and on January 6, the people of Bangladesh are experiencing 5G live here at the Smartphone and Tab Expo 2022. I thank Teletalk and Huawei for this," he said.

Tao Guangyao, chief operating officer of Huawei Technologies Bangladesh, said: "ICT investment will bring about 1 percent of GDP growth. From the perspective of investment efficiency, investment in digitalisation and ICT, the efficiency is 6.7 times that of other domains in ICT.

"Huawei has witnessed and participated in the magnificent development of mobile communications in Bangladesh. In future, we will proactively introduce mature 5G 2B use cases to Bangladesh and help 5G take root in local society."
