Debris from an intercepted attack struck a building in Dubai’s financial district on Friday, marking the second such incident in less than 24 hours as the US-Israel-Iran conflict entered its 15th day. Authorities said no casualties or fires were reported.
The Dubai Media Office said on social media platform X that the debris hit the façade of a building in central Dubai and that the situation had been fully contained.
An AFP correspondent at the Dubai International Financial Centre reported hearing loud blasts and seeing damaged structures and a large cloud of black smoke over the area. Residents said the explosions shook nearby buildings and triggered fears of major damage.
Meanwhile in Iraq, a drone reportedly struck the US Embassy compound in Baghdad, according to Iraqi security officials. Smoke was seen rising from the diplomatic complex, and a second security source confirmed that the mission had been targeted.
The incident followed two strikes against the Iran-backed group Kataeb Hezbollah. A security source said a missile hit a house used by the group at about 2:15 am local time, killing a senior member and injuring two others.
The Associated Press also reported that a missile struck a helipad inside the US Embassy compound in Baghdad.
