Aid for Men Foundation, a human rights organization, has demanded exemplary punishment for Firoza Nazneen Bandhan, who was arrested over charges of sexually abusing several teenagers at the Bhawal Drug Rehabilitation Center in Gazipur.
The organization made the demand today at a human chain held at the foot of the Raju Memorial sculpture at Dhaka University at around 11:00 am.
At the time, they demanded for a gender-neutral definition of rape and a gender-neutral reform of Section 375 of the Penal Code.
Mahin Murtaza Anik, a student of DU Institute of Education and Research convener of the DU branch of the organization, said, “We have learned from multiple media reports that the owner of the institute, Firoza, brutally sexually abused minors at the Bhawal Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Center in Gazipur.”
It has also been reported in the media that in the name of providing medical treatment, the male patients of choice were subjected to physical and mental abuse and forced sexual relations with them.
There is no point in calling her perverted behavior and heinous crime anything other than ‘rape’. They demanded that Firoza Nazneen Bandhan’s exemplary punishment alike the rapists are given.
